Moringa Tree Project Update

CHAP Mission Trip to Haiti in 2016

Deforestation in Haiti is a severe environmental problem. Haitians burn wood charcoal for 60% of their domestic energy production. In 1923 over 60% of Haiti’s land was foested. In 2006, less than 2% of the land was forested.

In May 2016, 2,500 Moringa Trees have been distributed and planted in the Crochu (Bouzi) village area. The moringa trees can help with erosion control as well as nutritional supplements. The moringa leaves can be harvested, ground and used for nutritional supplements for Haitians lacking a vitamin rich diet.

Thank you to Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, Edenton, NC for your support of the Moringa Trees Project. For more, check May 16 Newsletter »
