Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and one of the poorest in the world. 80% of the people live on less than $2 a day; 60% go to bed hungry every night; half are illiterate and 40% lack access to clean drinking water. Nevertheless, Haitians are warm, hard-working , generous and spiritually rich people, and it is a blessing to work with them.

Lespwa Timoun (Creole for “Hope for Children”) is a medical, dental, nutrition and education program for the neediest children in the Croix-des-Bouquets area. Children in the program are weighed at monthly clinics and receive monthly food supplements, vaccinations, vitamins and worm medicine. Their parents receive education on health and nutrition. |
