"I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers
of mine, you did for me."
Matthew 25:40.
Mission Trips
CHAP’s goal is to have three mission trips a year. Some trips are medical/dental trips,
some are "service trips" that don't involve anyone with medical and/or dental skills, and
some are shorter trips that are designed to give team members a chance to be involved in a
"ministry of presence". Even on a medical/dental trip we need "worker bees" – there are many
chances for unskilled people to help the medical/dental team in significant ways.
Most of our
trips go for a week, usually from Saturday to Saturday. Since the earthquake we now stay in a
guest house fairly close to Pere Val’s home church of St. Simeon, where two meals a day are
provided. We eat lunch while out in the field. Most trips cost between $1,000 and $1,200, which
includes air transportation to Haiti, all meals, and ground transportation while in Haiti. While
that is a large sum of money, many team members get support from other Christian brothers and sisters
who want to share in this vital ministry, but who don’t feel called to go to Haiti. If you feel
that God is calling you to serve Him in Haiti, contact us, and we will work with you to “plug”
you into a future trip.
